As many of you are aware from the March edition of the KSCPOST Spotlight, the KSCPOST Handgun Qualification Course was recently codified in a Kansas Administrative Regulation (KAR). Unfortunately,
after publication, an observant officer identified typographical errors in the regulation.
Specifically, the KAR does not accurately reflect the handgun qualification course that has been the established standard for more than 20 years. The errors affect the time limit for Stage 3 and the round count and time limit for a portion of Stage 5.
The KAR is incorrect and will be amended to reflect the historical course of fire. Until those corrections are formally adopted, KSCPOST advises all agencies to continue using the historical course of fire rather than the version currently published in the KAR.

The necessary corrections to the KAR are as follows:
- Stage 3: The time limit should be four (4) seconds per string, not five (5) seconds.
- Stage 5: The second portion of Stage 5 should read:
Shooter will draw and fire three (3) rounds using a two-hand supported grip within five (5) seconds.
The process to make these changes will be initiated immediately. Once the KAR has been corrected, we will notify everyone with an update via the KSCPOST Spotlight.
